Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a holiday to remember the sacrifice and service of our brave men and women in the armed forces.  It's also a day of remembrance for those who have died and paid the ultimate price to keep our country safe.

The first Memorial Day was celebrated on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic.  Originally the holiday was to pay respects to the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War.  However, by the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars.

Because Memorial Day also marks the start of the summer and vacation season it's time to celebrate as well.  Let the barbecue's begin!  The Peoples Station 107 Jamz extends our heartfelt gratitude for your service.

God bless you all and thank you!
