Juelz Santana Begins Serving Two-Year Prison Sentence
Juelz Santana is officially in prison. As Page Six noted earlier today (March 1), the Dipset rhymer, whose real name is LaRon James, is listed as an inmate at Petersburg Medium Federal Corrections Institution in Hopewell, Va., which means that he's started serving his two-year sentence on gun and drug charges related to a March 2018 incident at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Santana was arrested last March at Newark Liberty International Airport after TSA discovered a loaded gun and oxycodone pills in his carry-on luggage. He initially fled in a taxi at the airport but he turned himself into police days later.
The gun and drug charges carried a lengthy maximum sentence of 20 years, but Santana was able to negotiate a plea deal. The 37-year-old rapper ultimately pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Before his prison stint, Santana married his longtime girlfriend Kimbella in January. Among the attendees at the nuptials included fellow Dipset members Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey, as well as Maino, Lil Kim and fellow Love & Hip-Hop stars Joe Budden, Remy Ma and Papoose.
Juelz Santana and Kimbella share two children together, 8-year-old Juelz Santana James and 6-year-old Bella Monroe James.
