Kindergarten Will Become Mandatory In Louisiana
We have had this discussion before on this subject. Should kindergarten become mandatory or not for children in Louisiana?
When I think back to my childhood, I enjoyed it. It allowed me to be able to develop great socializing skills as I played with the other kids. I feel like it kept me from being antisocial, although I tend to be a little now. But I do feel like having that experience as a child exposed me to a world of realizing I am not alone and can actually have a pretty normal life.
The news is out that Louisiana lawmakers have passed a bill that, beginning in 2022, will require children who will turn five by September 30 of each year to attend kindergarten. This was a priority for Governor John Bel Edwards, and it made its through the Senate with a 38-0 vote and the House with a 70-34 vote.
While I understand some parents' objections, being a father of one who is an adult now, I feel like this is something to consider and really could be beneficial for the child. Take the time to weigh all of your options and make sure to ask any questions that raise your concern.
