On April 24, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office received a complaint in reference to the of writing checks from an account which was no longer operable.

In the process of their investigation, detectives say the learned approximately $144,000 of checks in total had been written from a closed account. During further investigation, they learned that checks had been used to purchase a four wheeler with accessories and three vehicles from local dealerships around the Lake Charles area.

Detectives learned the suspect was possibly residing in the Opelousas area and driving one of the vehicles purchased. The Opelousas Police Department was immediately notified and asked to assist with the apprehension of Christopher A. Leblanc, 8511 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles.

Leblanc admitted to the bad checks and being aware that some of the accounts were closed. He is currently being charged with two counts of worthless checks $5,000 to $25,000, and two counts of worthless checks over $25,000. Judge David Ritchie set Leblanc's bond at $125,000. All of the items purchased have been recovered.
