Love & Hip Hop NY’s Mendeecees Harris Gets 8-Years – Tha Wire [VIDEO]

It's sad but true, HipHollywood confirms that reality star of Love & Hip Hop NY, Mendeecees Harris, was sentenced to eight years.  Harris will serve 97-months for drug trafficking.  The sentence was handed down by a Rochester judge Tuesday December 1.

Harris and his wife Yandy Smith married over the Memorial Day weekend and just like all the legal drama, their good times have also been chronicled on VH1.

The Love & Hip Hop couple welcomed their second child together, a baby girl, in January. Then jumped the broom in front of several hundred family and friends over the Memorial Day weekend.

Unfortunatly their happy times are gonna be on hold for a few years.  The reality star plead guilty back in April according to HipHollywood, in exchange for an eight to ten year bid. The other part of the deal will also include Harris paying a $15,000 to $5 million fine as well.  The 37-year old was out on $600,000 bond and now he's heading back to prison to serve the sentence.

Mendeecees lawyer, Donald Thompson, released a statement to the website saying his client will not serve the full time “for many reasons.”  However he didn't give an estimated time frame.  Shortly after being sentenced Mendeecees owned up to the consequence of his actions.  The star took full responsibility with a rather long message to friends and fans on Instagram.  He wrote:

“I want you all to understand something. I completely accept responsibility for all that is going on. My transition to be a better person a productive person started well before this case. However in my past I made some bad decisions. Young men let my life be an example to you now before it’s too late.

Better who you are now in your children’s lives and in society so you can change the path of your fate. Lack of opportunities, a fatherless home, the unforgiven neighborhood and circumstances you grew up in can no longer be your excuse. Trust me I tried. And it doesn’t make the pain your family feels any different.

Young man educate your self and break the cycle. Don’t become a number on the DOA (dead on arrival) list or on the incarceration list. To my wife and children you are all strong and well prepared for this.

This is just another brick laid down towards our house of happily ever after , walk with your head held high knowing I would never past the buck and put another family through what we have endured. Continue to walk in faith and love as you’ve done so well. To my peoples thank you for all the encouragement and support please continue to encourage my family. Thank you again all.”

On a much brighter note, it's congrats to Ice Tee and Coco on the birth of their fist child together. The happy couple welcomed baby Chanel into the world over the Thanksgiving weekend and she's already following in her mom and dad's footsteps.  Though she's only a few days old, baby Chanel has more than 120 thousand followers on Instagram!
