MLK Exhibit Tour Coming To Lake Charles In February

Earlier this month I talked about my visit to Atlanta and the great time that I had visiting the childhood and later adult church of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. How great it was to be in the area of someone I would call one of the best at offering peace as an alternative to war and a great dignitary for the progress of the Black community.

There is great news for people in Lake Charles, and surrounding areas who would like to experience some important moments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Reginald F. Lewis Scholars is partnering up with Raising Cane's to present a statewide tour titled "Carry On The Dream". The tour will be making a stop in Lake Charles from Monday, February 7 through Thursday, February 10.

The exhibit will feature a rare display of the actual hearse that carried the body of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr which will be on display inside the Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall (900 Lakeshore Drive) The exhibit is free and open to the public during the course of the tour.  There will be an opening reception on Monday, February 7 from 6 to 8 p.m, The Exhibit will feature remarks from local host organizations, a musical selection from Jairus Daigle and the Bulber Youth Orchestra, and local historian Johnnie Mouton will an address for the audience during the opening receptions.

Those who attend will also be able to see a screening of the documentary "I am MLK Jr", which celebrates the life of the triumphant Preacher and Civil Rights leader. This is a great event for the parents to bring their kids and really bond over a special man and event.
