CPSO: Pedestrian Fatality Under Investigation in Iowa

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a pedestrian fatality in Iowa that occurred on the night of Sunday, August 11, at about 8:00 pm, near Manchester Rd. and McCown Rd., where a man was hit by a pickup truck.

According to a media release from Kim Myers, the driver of a truck was traveling westbound on McCown Rd. when he struck a pedestrian, who was walking in the middle of the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Marcus K. Mallet, 37, of Iowa. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the incident is still under investigation, a toxicology test will be performed on the driver and the pedestrian, said Myers.
