A disturbance on Wednesday, September 12, led officers with the Lake Charles Police Department on a pursuit and the arrest of a local man.

According to a media release, LCPD got a call from a dispatcher of a cab company stating a female was calling asking for a taxi cab to get away from a person who was hitting her. Officers did, in fact, spot a subject in a black Volvo when they arrived on the scene, and that's when he fled. Officers attempted to stop him, but he refused to stop. A pursuit through "several neighborhoods" ensued, "ending where it began". The suspect later stopped an led officers on a foot chase where he was apprehended in the 3100 block of Aster St.

Two Lake Charles Police units were damaged during the pursuit, but no one was injured.

James Lyons, 30, was arrested and charged with aggravated flight from an officer, possession of marijuana, no driver's license, and no insurance. Police have not spoken with the victim who reportedly fled the scene.
