HERE'S TODAY'S BONUS STORY:

Maybe it's me, but I think this is a little extreme.  CNN commentator and host of Washington Watch Roland Martin has been suspended over tweets he made during the Super Bowl.  For some strange reason, some people got into an uproar over his tweets, including members of GLAAD when Roland tweeted about the David Beckham underwear ad.  This was his tweet.

" If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham's H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!"  He also allegedly, alluded to on of the players needing to get a "beating" (of course not literally) for rocking pink from head to toe before the game.

Anyway, the big wigs at CNN felt that those tweets warranted Roland's suspension.  The fact that Roland issued a statement the day after the game saying "let me address the issue that some in the LGBT community have raised regarding some of my Super Bowl tweets yesterday.  I made several cracks about soccer as I do all the time.  i was not referring to sexuality directly or indirectly regarding the David Beckham ad, and I'm sorry folks took it otherwise". Didn't make a difference.

CNN issued a statement of their own saying "Roland Martin's tweets were regrettable and offensive.  Language that demeans is inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization, and is not tolerated.  We have been giving careful consideration to this matter, and Roland will not be appearing on our air for the time being".

Wow!  Really?
