Rihanna Shuts Down Rumors of Megan Thee Stallion Collaboration
On Friday (Aug. 30), Rihanna denied the rumors after a Fenty fan account on Instagram reached out to the Grammy Award-winning singer and shared an image of a news item announcing their alleged collabo.
The fan wrote, “WHATS DIS HUNNY,” to which Rihanna replied, “A Lie.”
This comes after the rumor mill went into overdrive with news that RiRi is teaming up with the 2019 XXL Freshman for a song called “Whip It.” Apparently, a listing of the alleged tune popped up in the publishing database for Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC) last Thursday. Fans caught wind of it and noticed that the song was listed alongside Rihanna's previous hits, “Raining Men,” “What’s My Name” and “FourFiveSeconds.”
Rihanna is reportedly working hard on her ninth album, which she confirmed to T Magazine back in May. Details have been scarce on the project, but according to reports, it’s going to be an experimental album with fusions of dancehall and Afrobeat music. Producers Chase & Status, Raye and Diplo are reportedly hoping to snag a production credit on the album, unofficially referred to as #R9.
Meanwhile, Megan recently revealed to E!'s Daily Pop that she would love to work with the R&B star in the future. "I definitely wanna collab with Rihanna," she said. "That’s next on my bucket list. The Bad Gal and the Hot Girl? That would be crazy."
A Bad Gyal and Hot Girl collab could very well happen in the future.
