Let’s join our elected officials of Southwest Louisiana by sending a letter of sympathy and support to Charleston residents. Find out how you can sign your name below.

In the wake of the mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina last week, area elected officials are inviting members of the public to join them in sending a letter of sympathy and support to Charleston residents. A copy of the letter is attached and is signed by each of the Calcasieu Mayors along with the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury President. The Lake Charles City Council introduced a similar resolution of sympathy at its agenda meeting on Tuesday evening. - City of Lake Charles

You can sign your name to the online guest book at the City of Lake Charles website where it reads “Condolences to the Community of Charleston.” Individuals can pick up a printed hard copy for multiple signatures at any Calcasieu Parish library, or at the City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Office, 10th floor, 326 Pujo St., through Wednesday, July 8.

Signed copies should be delivered to the City of Lake Charles Mayor’s Office, before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8. A printed booklet of the combined signatures and personalized messages will be mailed to Charleston on Friday, July 10. Call 491-9176 for any additional info.
