It's been a long week and today two momentous rulings were handed down by the Supreme Court.  Two landmark decisions will impact marriage between same-sex couples here in the United States.

The Supreme Court rulings overturned the federal Defense of Marriage Act and rejected the appeal of a California marriage ban. Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Commission said of the decision,  "Today's historic decisions put two giant cracks in the dark wall of discrimination that separates committed gay and lesbian couples from full equality.  He called the rulings "a joyous milestone."

And while the ruling clears the way for same-sex marriages in California, it will have no impact in the other 35 states that bans them.
