Principal Kim Lewis stopped by the studio today to let SWLA parents and students know that Southwest Louisiana Charter Academy (SWLCA) is revving up for the new school year. Now that we are only 2 weeks out, Principal Lewis wanted to remind the parents/guardians of new students there's still time to get their children registered for the 2022-23 Pre-K-8th grade school session.

Ranyel Trent, SWLCA Counselor and Co-owner of Kingdom Life Enterprises has organized a very special back-to-school event. Mrs. Trent explained to the American Press. "At SWLCA, we recognize that students place a high priority on their first day of school appearance.” Mrs. Trent continued, “This is evident in the number of students who miss the first day of school — especially when starting on a Friday — due to not being able to get their hair done in time or not having their uniforms yet. We wanted to help mitigate these circumstances by providing a service to meet their needs.”

The first SWLCA “Back 2 School Bash: Barbers and Braiders” event is from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, August 6. This service is FREE for students, but they must pre-register by calling the school (337) 475-7910 as cutting or braiding hair takes time.

Mrs. Trent said that the goal is to make sure students feel confident and comfortable on their first day of school. Principal Lewis told us, "the enrollment process for new students is easy because parents/guardians now have the option to register their children online." This includes uploading any paperwork that needs to accompany the registration form. Please note: Only new students need to get registered. Returning students are already signed-up and simply need to report to school Friday, August 12, ready to learn. Where by the way, SWLCA is also providing free school supplies for every student.

Finally, Principal Lewis is extending a big invite to all SWLCA students and parents to come out to the Back To School Meet & Greet on August 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Meet the Principal, teachers, and staff and get a quick tour of the classrooms. Have a great school year everyone!
