According to the Louisiana State Police Facebook page, screenings and checkpoints begin today, April 5, 2020, related to the COVID-19 virus. The state police urge people to use caution when headed west to Texas due to congestion and slow traffic. All roadways, including interstates, leading into Texas will be subject to screening. Be prepared to be stopped once you cross into Texas by the Texas DPS at any of these roadways when coming from Louisiana.

If you are coming into Texas as your final destination, a mandatory 14-day quarantine period is required. Drivers passing through Texas and commercial vehicles will be allowed to pass. If you will be staying in Texas for 14 days or less, you must remain quarantined the entire time. Texas DPS has a form on their website that must be filled out by those staying in Texas coming from Louisiana. Failure to comply could result in a $1000 fine, 180 days in jail, or both.
