The Lake Charles, Louisiana Divas of Dance LLC, a Hip Hop Majorette Style dace team, lead by Chelsea Thomas and her president Burnadette Watt went on Lifetime's 'Bring It!' in October 2015 and performed at the "Clear The Lane" competition.  With a stand battle team of five girls and only one year of dancing with one another, The Divas of Dance entered the "Creative Dance" portion of the competition and came in 2nd place.  During the episode 3 of season 3, The Divas competed against three teams and wound-up in the championship round and dance-off against Lifetime TV stars the Jackson, Mississippi Dancing Dolls.

Below is a look at how some of that fierce dance-off went down.

For the first time ever competing on a TV show, much less performing at a competition of that caliber, The Divas of Dance did pretty good.  No they did better than that...they actually won that competition!  No one was more surprised than them.  They represented for their city and state big time. Divas coach Chelsea Thomas told KPLC 7 of the win,

"When we went against the Dancing Dolls we were a little nervous because one, it was our first time being on TV battling and second of all because it's the Dancing Dolls. But we won, we won! We beat the Dancing Dolls."

Team captain Cydnee Stevens said, "We were shocked because we knew we were good but we didn't think we would win because they're nationally known and they're the best. But when they said The Divas of Dance won, we were like so excited."

The Divas of Dance studio offers Majorette and Creative Dance lessons and is located here in Lake Charles, at 1801 Kirkman Street.  The studio hours of operation are Monday - Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Coach Thomas is has been a student of dance since the age of 3.  She mastered several forms of dance like ballet, jazz, tap and lyrical before switching over to majorette.  With years of dance experience behind her, the Arkansas native opened her dance studio shortly after relocating to Lake Charles.  The rest is currently history in the making.

Thomas said, though most Hip Hop stand dance squads are dominated by African American females, The Divas of Dance is not limited to any one race.  The dance coach said she welcomes more diversity and all girls welcome to come to her studio and tryout or sign-up for a classes.

Speaking of which, sometime this month (TBA), The Divas of Dance will be host a dance clinic and tryouts for girls ages 5-18. Dancers at all levels, are encouraged to come sign-up to participate in the Competition Squad, Company Squad and two Stand Battle Squads. For more details or to become a sponsor contact coach Chelsea Thomas on The Divas Facebook page or call 870-209-3991.

Also The Divas of Dance are hosting a major dance competition on May 7, 2016 at the Burton Coliseum.  Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the excitement.  The event is called "Buckin On The Bayou" and will feature several teams seen on 'Bring It!,' including D3 Elite, Xplosive and more. The Divas will not be competing, but are planning a to perform.  So don't miss out!
