This Lake Charles Retailer Is Going Out Of Business For Good

It's hard to believe how many big-chain American department stores are closing and going out of business. Tuesday Morning just announced it is closing all of its stores for good. Sadly, it is the second major US home goods retailer to bite the dust. A couple of months ago, Bed Bath & Beyond announced it was shutting down operations.

CNN reported the retailer filed for bankruptcy for the second time in three years and announced this week that its going-out-of-business sale, with 30% off discounts, is officially underway. Tuesday Morning has been in business for 49 years. Still, the 2020 pandemic and prolonged store closures put the nails in the coffin of the long-time department store, causing an “insurmountable financial hurdle. The iconic department chain filed its first bankruptcy, but the effort did little to help them recover.

It doesn't look like the closure will be dragged out. According to the Dallas Morning News, the retailer sold its remaining 200 stores out of bankruptcy last week to a liquidation company. All customers with gift cards have until Friday, May 13, to use them. Eleven Louisiana store locations, including the Lake Charles store on Ryan Street, will start closing rapidly in the coming weeks.
