Today My Life Changed With TSM Lake Charles
My family and I moved to Lake Charles in July of 2001 to take over a radio station known as V107.5. The format was initially an Urban Adult format that played music from Frankie Beverly and Maze, Chaka Khan, and many more. The station had initially been on the air since 2000, and was making a pretty solid move in the area.
Then, in 2001, the opportunity came for the station to be rebranded to take on what was popular at the moment. This was the new format for Urban Mainstream, where we played everything from Outkast, UGK'z, Mike Jones, and many more that had the city on lock. The switch was flipped in March on a Friday night at midnight, and the rest is history. We are now 16 years later, and today was a very special day for me, as my career has been elevated to another level. I have been the Program Director for two radio stations in Lake Charles, 107 Jamz and Classic Rock 92.1, but today I was named Operations Manager over the cluster here in Lake Charles.
Now, let me explain what the title Operations Manager means for those who may be unaware. This means that I am responsible for overseeing the staff of qualified programmers of the other brands that we have, including Country, Classic Hits, and Cajun music. I have a great group of people that I work with, including Brand Managers who do a great job, but it is my responsibility to see what they need and make sure they have what they need. I will also work closely with the sales department and management on promotions and other ideas to continue to grow the brands bigger.
This is truly an honor for me, and I am looking forward to working with everyone here to see that we all become successful and reap the rewards that we deserve. They also had a luncheon for me today, so check out some of the photos below. I have to send a big shout out to my Market Manager, Brad Burley, as well as everyone else who has contributed to where I am today.
Over a year ago, we decided to put together a video of what it would be like to actually have an ego, which is something that I never had and don't plan on getting anytime soon. The video turned out to be very humorous, and I hope you guys get a laugh out of it.
