Chief Keef Strikes Deal, Avoids Jail Time in Drug Case: Report

Chief Keef dodges jail time—for now.

According to a report published by Sioux Falls, S.D.'s The Argus Leader on Friday (April 26), the Chicago rapper pleaded no contest to felony possession of a controlled substance during an appearance in a South Dakota courtroom this morning. As a result, the judge also granted Keef a suspended imposition of sentence, which is an arrangement where a defendant can avoid jail time and prevent a conviction from being entered as long as they live up to a set of conditions given by a judge.

In Keef's case, he's in the clear as long as he avoids committing any misdemeanors classified as Class 1 or above. If he does this, a formal conviction for the case won't be entered.

The rhymer's misdemeanor charges for the case, which included possession of two ounces or less of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, have been dropped. Closing out the case, Keef also had to pay a $500 fine, $104 for court costs and $99 for testing fees.

The drug charges stem from a June 12, 2017 arrest in Sioux Falls. At the time, Keef was arrested and charged after Sioux Falls Regional Airport security uncovered a pair of marijuana-infused edibles and marijuana-filled blunts in his luggage. The Finally Rich artist ended up being booked at the Minnehaha County Jail that same day.

This news arrives days after Chief Keef recently teased a new record featuring Lil Uzi Vert. Tentatively titled "Mooliani,” the song was previewed on Sosa’s Instagram. Last month, Keef released GloToven, which is a collaborative project with super-producer Zaytoven.
