The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a combination DWI and seatbelt checkpoint at an undisclosed location in the parish on Saturday, November 30, in an "continuing effort" to keep parish residents safe, said a media release from Kayla Vincent.

The checkpoint, funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, will target drivers under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. In the past these check points have been e"proven to be very effective" in discouraging impaired driving, making them "more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted".

The checkpoint will also target anyone not wearing their seatbelt.
