Janet, Xscape & Mary J. Return For Essence Fest 2018!

The 2018 Essence Music Festival will jump-off before we know it. July 4th weekend in New Orleans is always a "Party With A Purpose!" Everyone is going banana's over this years line-up. For starters The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul is coming back to grace the Main Stage once again! Mary J. Blige is an absolute staple at this event, and as we all know, she's got plenty to sing about these days. It's all good Mary, we're ready! Also a lot of folks in Louisiana and SE Texas, were upset they didn't get a chance to see Janet Jackson's State of the World Tour when it came through. This is mainly because a storm named Harvey, destroyed everything is sight around the same time.

On they same note there was a tune of drama behind concert goers not getting a chance to see Xscape perform at Essence last year. There was major fallout over that situation. Essence coordinators under-estimated how big an impact the groups reunion would have on their fans. Further they made the mistake of putting Xscape in a Super Lounge, instead of the Main Stage. This set a near riot in motion, as ticket holders were locked outside the lounge when it filled to capacity in a matter of minutes. Essence security had the unfortunate job to tell hundreds of paying customers, they couldn't go in....an lets just say it didn't go well. Nola.com covered the fallout. Fans were furious!

It's a rare occasion for Essence to get something wrong, when it comes to music festivals. They wrote the script when it comes to the biggest, longest running, most successful music festivals, in one of the most famous cities in the world. As for the 2018 line-up?
