According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, a Lake Charles man has been arrested and charged with felony hit and run of a pedestrian who died at the scene late last night, on Weaver Road.

On Tuesday night (Aug. 4) at about 11:30 p.m., 27-year-old Jeremy Daniels of Lake Charles was struck by a truck while walking on the side of the road, and then left to die in a ditch on Weaver Road.  The truck was driven by 19-year-old Grant T. Henning of Lake Charles who fled the scene without attempting to call for help, said CPSO’s Kim Myers.

According to Myers, Henning was traveling southbound on Weaver Rd. approaching Ham Reid Rd. where he fled the scene after his truck struck Daniels. Daniels died at the scene as a result of the impact.

Judged Sharon Wilson set Henning’s bond at $20,000. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with felony hit and run, said Myers.
