According to a media release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, on Thursday, September 26, deputies were dispatched to a care facility in Lake Charles in reference to "unauthorized transactions from the business’s account". The complainant told deputies that after conducting a monthly audit of the facilities bank account they learned between September 9 - 20, that over $10,000 of unauthorized transactions were made.

Investigators obtained a transaction summary and learned some of the charges were made from PayPal and Facebook with an account name of Lamikaa D. Wilkins, 42, 205 Contour Drive, Lake Charles. Detectives learned Wilkins was an employee at the care facility and was in charge of making purchases for the facility, said the media release.

Lamikaa D. Wilkins of Lake Charles is charged with theft over $5,000 but less than $25,000, after she was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged, on Saturday, September, 28. She was released later the same day on a $10,000 ROR bond.
