Lake Charles Woman Charged with Cruelty to the Infirmed
According to a media release, "Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Crimes detectives were called out to a home on S. Franklin St. in Lake Charles on November 20, in reference to a 17-year-old boy with medical issues who was extremely thin and appeared to be malnourished". He was transported to the hospital and placed into ICU and remains in the hospital.
After obtaining a search warrant the following day, November 21, detectives searched the residence and found unused medication prescribed to the victim. Detectives tried taking Miracle Chatman, 32, into custody but she resisted and reportedly committed battery on two detectives.
Chatman was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with cruelty to the infirmed, and two (2) counts of battery on a police officer. Her bond is set at $14,000.
