LCPD Arrests Barricaded Suspect at Home on North Prater Street
On the morning of February 22, the Lake Charles Police Department was dispatched to what they were informed was a burglary in progress at 418 North Prater Street. A witness dialed 911 to inform them of what they believed was a burglary after witnessing an unknown black male enter the residence through a window.
After LCPD officers arrived and did a perimeter search, an unknown black male opened the front door and then quickly closed it back. He reportedly then barricaded himself inside and refused to exit. The LCPD Swat Team, negotiators, and a K-9 officer were deployed to get the suspect to come out, but when all attempts failed the SWAT Team entered the home to locate and detain the suspect at 9:07 a.m., said a media release.
29-year-old Brodrick Vandrez Dicks of Lake Charles was detained and "taken to a local hospital for minor injuries received during the altercation." He was arrested after it was determined he was "indeed committing a burglary." He was charged with burglary, resisting by providing false information, and resisting arrest.
