Lake Charles, La. - Louisiana State Police Troop D (LSP) will be conducting a seat belt compliance and DWI checkpoint on Saturday, April 11, between the hours of 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish.

Troopers are out to encourage the use of seat belts and combat impaired driving on Louisiana roads. According to LSP, they will "ticket vehicle occupants who are not properly restrained or who choose not to properly restrain children in the vehicle as well as to remove impaired drivers from the road before they cause injury or death to themselves or others."

Louisiana state law requires vehicle occupants in all seating positions to be properly restrained, day and night. Children who require a child safety seat should be properly restrained in an age and weight appropriate restraint. Buckle up Louisiana. Every trip. Every time. - LSP

LSP encourage motorists to report impaired drivers by dialing *LSP (*577) from a cellular device or simply contacting your local law enforcement agency.

We do our best to encourage our listeners to buckle up and don’t drink and drive. Drive sober or get pulled over.
