Results Released from Friday, August 31, DWI Checkpoint

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office conducted a DWI checkpoint on Friday, August 31, 2018, in the 3100 block of Westwood Drive in Westlake, with the goal "to target individuals driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics", said a media release. The Sulphur Police Department and Lake Charles Police Department also participated in the checkpoint.

There were 991 vehicles checked. 11 field sobriety tests were administered; 2 citations were issued for open container; 2 citations were issued for expired motor vehicle inspection stickers, and 1 citation for careless operation.

The persons listed below signed a summons and were released:

• John S. Hooper, 55, Westlake, was arrested for DWI 1st offense
• Thomas W. Cordle, 39, Westlake, was arrested for DWI 1st offense
• Holly P. Harris, 18, Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
• A juvenile, Lake Charles, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia
