You’re invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony for the former Legion Field, now Alvin Dark Baseball Stadium, located at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 5th Street in Lake Charles. Friday, February 10, at 12 p.m., Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation will host the ceremony, as they’ve completed renovations to the stadium.

Just like the Lake Charles Boston Cougar Stadium, Ward 3 Recreation, under the direction of Executive Director Kip Texada, also now supervises the baseball stadium across the street. It will host high school baseball and summer baseball leagues.

The Alvin Dark Baseball Stadium renovation was funded through a bond proposition passed by Ward 3 voters in 2014, said a City of Lake Charles press release.  Texada says his mission is to "establish, acquire, construct, improve, extend and maintain a recreational system and facilities for the benefit of all citizens."
