Detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to Sam Houston High School on Friday, November 15, at about 2:00pm in refernece to a 17-year-old boy with a gun at school.

According to Kim Myers, upon arrival, detectives learned several students reported the teen to administrators after seeing him with a gun tucked in the waistband of his pants. It was in the principal’s office that administrators recovered a CO2-powered pellet pistol, and after taking it the student began fighting with the principal and the CPSO school resource officer.

The student was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with resisting arrest; and illegal carrying of a weapon in a firearm free zone.
