This month marks 20- years that I have been doing radio here in Lake Charles. When I tell you that it has been a ride. That would be an understatement. I have worked with 3 different companies and several peers in radio over the time. I have met some lifelong friends and supporters in the wonderful community. I have also raised my son, and created a career that I love while being here in Lake Charles.

I remember when I moved here in July 2001, I will never forget it rained for 2 weeks straight. Ironically, it seems like that is happening now. One of the first places that I went to was Leonard's Food Quarters, Gina Cook took me there and when I tell you I was hooked from day one. Trust me when I say that I still love Leonards til this day. Every since then I have learned to love Zydeco music, Boudin and the culture here in Lake Charles. I have met countless people here who have literally opened their hearts and arms to welcome us to the area. When I first came here I was programming V107.5 which was an Urban Adult station and we were making a lot of noise in the area. Fast- Forward to today we are the Number one Hip Hop station in the city.

Erik Tee interviews with Max Manelli:

I have had a lot of first time moments in the area as well including interviewing Lyfe Jennings live on the air and having him do an acoustic set during my show. I have had blues legend Mel Waiters come through and play me exclusive music before it was released to the public and we have gone through many storms in the area along with many of my peers and friends that I have made while my time here in Lake Charles.

Erik Tee interviews singer Avant:

This is truly a beautiful place where everyone is cool to talk to and you can learn so much about the heritage that the city has to offer. It is also centrally located right in the middle of Houston and New Orleans. If you have supported me or helped me in any type of way. I appreciate you being there for me and my family over the past 20 years.

LOOK: Here are the biggest HBCUs in America

More than 100 historically Black colleges and universities are designated by the U.S. Department of Education, meeting the definition of a school "established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans."

StudySoup compiled the 20 largest historically Black colleges and universities in the nation, based on 2021 data from the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics. Each HBCU on this list is a four-year institution, and the schools are ranked by the total student enrollment.
