Three Arrested for Burglary at J.I. Watson Elementary School

Two Iowa men and one Sulphur man were arrested for breaking in and burglarizing an Iowa elementary school back in May.

A deputy with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office was dispatched to J.I. Watson Elementary School in Iowa on the morning of May 30, about a burglary that took place the evening of the previous day. There was damage to a door and coke machine inside the school, as well as missing iPads and computers from classrooms. According to a media release, the deputy located the iPads, computers, and several of the cokes from the damaged machine, on the 2nd floor of the school.

Video surveillance showed three men in the school going from class to class at roughly 5:30 pm on May 29. Investigators determined the men entered the school through an open window they pried open. Three men, Hunter R. Miller, 18, 7993 Old Hecker Road, Draven A. Reuter, 19, 111 East 2nd Street, both of Iowa, and Ethan T. Hext, 19, 2412 Roxanne Street, Sulphur, were all identified as the suspects.

All three men were arrested over the next four days following the burglary and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with simple burglary; simple criminal damage to property over $1,000; and theft less than $1,000.  Miller was released on a $3,000 bond.  Reuter is still in custody on a $4,500 bond.  Hext was released on a $5,000 bond.
