Happy New Year everyone! We are officially here for the year of 2020 and when I tell you that things are going to be bigger and better then last year. You better believe me like at notarized letter.

However I have to ask one question and that is whether or not New Year's Resolutions are still in place. We have all over the years made resolutions to lose weight, start up a business, become better parents or even better people. But somewhere along the way it seems like those things get pushed back further and further as they go along.

Why is that and what can be done to hold accountability to our goals? Well according to apa.org or American Psychological Association. Here are some steps to help you not only make a resolution, but work on staying on pace.

Start Small: Make a resolution that you'll be able to keep. If your goal is to exercise more often. Start off by scheduling three or for days a week instead of a full week at the gym.

Talk About it: Share your experiences with family and friends. Consider joining a support group to reach your goals such as a workout class or other supportive groups who are pushing you to be better daily.

Don't Beat Yourself Up: This is something that even I am guilty of and that is beating myself up. Remember perfection is unattainable. Also keep in mind that minor missteps when reaching your goals are completely normal and ok. Don't give up completely just because you had a slip up and ate that brownie when your goal was to avoid sweets.

Ask For Support: Accepting help from those who care about you and will listen strengthens your resilience and ability to manage the stress of keeping your resolution.

Remember you are not perfect. You will make mistakes, but that does not make you a bad person for doing so. Stay motivated and Happy New Year to you and yours.
