It's that time of year again where the City of Lake Charles partners with Prien Lake Mall to give families a safe place to bring the kids for Halloween on Thursday, October 31, located at 496 E. Prien Lake Road. It's free to the public.

According to a media release from Katie Harrington, children in costume are invited out to participate in the mall-wide Boo-Tastic Bash and trick-or-treat from 5:00pm to 6:30pm, until the goodies run out.

There will be Harvest Fest games and a haunted house from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, courtesy of the City's Recreation and Parks Department, with lots of candy ad prizes.

“Partnerships between public and private agencies have provided us with the opportunity to put a new spin on some old events and these Halloween festivities are no different,” said Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter. “We are excited to partner with the Prien Lake Mall once again to combine our efforts of providing a safe, festive location for community members to get out and enjoy Halloween.”

Toy weapons will not be allowed at the mall and masks may only be worn during trick-or-treating, said Harrington.

The City also recommends that trick-or-treat activities end at 8:00pm, Thursday, Oct. 31. "Parents should have their children home by 8:30pm, unless they are attending a supervised function sponsored by other parents or civic organizations".
