Lake Charles Man Charged with 1st-Degree Rape and Armed Robbery
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a local hospital on Sunday, July 28, in regards to a possible rape. According to a media release from Kayla Vincent, the victim told detectives, "A man she had just recently met raped her at gunpoint and stole her phone."
Detectives later identified the suspect as Mathan M. Thompson, 22, of 214 N. Booker Street, Lake Charles. He was interviewed by detectives on July 31, when he confirmed the allegations against him.
Thompson was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with first-degree rape and armed robbery. His bond was set at $850,000.
