In an effort to keep our roads safer in 2015, authorities with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) conducted another sobriety and seatbelt checkpoint on Friday, February 27, at the 900 block of West Lincoln Road in Lake Charles. Targeted were people driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics, and people who are not wearing their seatbelt.

One hundred sixty (160) vehicles were checked; four (4) field sobriety tests were administered; one (1) citations was issued for expired driver’s license; and one (1) citation was issued for no child restraint in use.

1 person was charged with DWI 1st.

CPSO, the Lake Charle Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police Troop D all took part in this week’s checkpoint.

Remember, don’t drink and drive and buckle up your seatbelt!
