Sex Offender Arrested on Multiple Charges
A local man, Michael John Landry, 51, was arrested on Friday, September 7, 2018, by detectives with the Lake Charles Police Department for identity theft, theft, and failure to register/notify as a sex offender.
After a theft investigation that began back in July, detectives learned Landry was the person responsible for "using victim's information for online purchases then selling the property to others and operating a vehicle not registered with law enforcement," said a media release.
In the process of the theft investigation, it was Michael Landry's Tier 1 sex offender status that helped detectives identify him. In 2009 he was convicted for indecent behavior with two juveniles, his 8-year-old daughter and 12-year-old stepdaughter. He's required to register with law enforcement for 15 years.
Michael Landry is charged with failure to register/notify as a sex offender with a bond of $25,000, identity theft with a bond of $25,000, and theft with a bond of $10,000. He's currently incarcerated at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
