The Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop D will conduct a DWI checkpoint on Thursday, May 31, from 8 p.m. - 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish. Their mission is “to detect and arrest impaired drivers before they cause injury or death to themselves or others".

"Alcohol consumption affects driver judgment and the skills needed to drive safely", said a media release.

LSP encourages motorist to plan ahead. Designate a sober driver before going where alcohol will be consumed. Be smart and save a life as well as your own. Don’t drive under the influence of any substance, or there can be deadly consequences.
